Description

There were seven lighthouses built around the Great Lakes using the same set of blueprints.  The design of lighthouses have become known as the Norman Gothic style, hence the title of the carving.  This carving was inspired by two of those lighthouses.  Dylan used reference pictures of the Passage Island Lighthouse for the details of the lighthouse in the carving and the carved landscape was inspired by the scenery around the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse.

The Carving is made from basswood with a stained finish.  The frame is made from worm eaten pine.  (Don’t worry, the worms are long gone.)  The frame measures 20 3/4 inches wide by 15 3/8 inches tall by 2 1/2 inches deep.
