Learn to carve a relief scene by carving along with Dylan’s Instructional videos

Description

Learn how to carve Dylan’s Florida river scene featuring a manatee in the water and a house over looking the palm and cypress tree lined river banks.  In addition to Dylan’s techniques for carving the house and landscape you will learn some fun techniques for using the  wood burner to create a screened in porch.

What you are buying:  Originally held as a Zoom class you will have unlimited access to watch the video recordings of Dylan teaching how to carve this project.  Watch the videos at your own pace and as many times as you need.

The videos are presented with very little or no editing, so you get to watch the entire process of the carving (Approx. 20 hours) from roughing out the blank piece of wood to staining the finished carving.  Also included in the videos are some of the discussions held with the students of the Zoom class as I discuss the progress of their carvings and answer their questions.

Below is a suggested tool list.

• A Plunge Router (optional, but will save you a good bit of time if starting from scratch.)
• #2 gouges: 12mm, 3/4″ (19mm),
1″ (25mm)
• #5 gouges: 5/16″ (8mm),
12mm, 1″ (25mm)
• #7 gouge: 3/8″ (10mm)
• #9 gouges: 3/16″ (5mm), 18mm
• #11 gouge: 1/8″ (3mm)
• V-tools: 1/16″ (2mm), 5/16″ (8mm)
• Spoon-bent skew chisels: 1/8″
(3mm) left, 1/8″ (3mm) right
• Woodburner with tips: skew or Guge fire tip, micro skew
• Rotary tool with bits: needle shaped stump cutter, 1/16″-diamond cylinder-shaped diamond, 1/32″-dia. inverted cone-shaped flute cutter, 3M radial bristle discs: 80 grit (yellow), 220 grit (red), 400 grit (blue)
• Contour gauge (optional but very useful), also known as a profile gauge.
• A Square (such as a combination square, speed square or machinist square or try square).
