The main goal of this will be to test out using Zoom with a group of 10-12 people so that we can learn what it’s like holding a class of that size via Zoom.
For the carving project we’ll be doing a Santa face ornament of the corner of a block. I’ll be using a triangular piece of wood approx. 6 long. You can make your own triangular blank by ripping a 2x2x6″ on the diagonal (See photos). I kind of doubt that we’ll be able to fully complete an ornament in the 2 hours+ time frame, so I will be focusing on the nose, mustache and mouth.
You will need the following in order to participate:
- You will need to have a smartphone, iPad or computer with webcam (laptop) and decent internet in your carving area. You will need to download the Zoom app. You do not have to sign up for a Zoom account, though it is free if you want to.
- If you have a tripod (large or small) or some other way of mounting/holding your smartphone or tablet that would probably be helpful, but is not required.
- A piece of wood approx. 2x2x6 I’m going to rip mine so that I’ll have two triangular pieces.
After you “purchase” the class, you will be emailed instructions on how to join the class.
