When you think about it, Santa Claus has a pretty tough job, it’s not all milk and cookies after all. That’s the feeling that I wanted to capture by doing this carving, the weariness of delivering toys all over the world balanced by the joy of a job well done.

This Santa Claus woodcarving stands 11.25″ tall, is 9″ wide by 6″ deep. Santa is carved from Aspen. Dylan turned the base from a piece of Cherry from his parent’s property in Alabama. The snow is carved from basswood, which Dylan coated with a traditional gesso (think drywall mud) before painting.
